1978 to 1982 production manager and commercial director for Condor Films, Zurich.
Co-founder of GLASS Films, Zurich. With the creation of the prestigious «SWATCH» commercial-campaign, soon to become the leading Swiss commercial production company.
1982 to l987 development and direction of many international award winning commercials.
In 1987 Aeby moved to New York to ran SIDEWALK PICTURES, an independent movie production company, located at Robert De Niro's newly created Tribeca Film Center in Tribeca, New York City. He wrote, produced and directed the award winning short A SLICE OF PIZZA (Aspen Film Festival, Montecatini Film Festival)
In l998, he wrote and directed his first feature film THREE BELOW ZERO, starring Wes Bentley (AMERICAN BEAUTY) in his first leading role. THREE BELOW ZERO won the prestigious Max Ophüls Award in 1999 for best picture.
In 2000 Simon Aeby directed THE REBEL, a romantic drama set in the Swiss alps, based on a 19. century novel by Gottfried Keller.
2001 THE REBEL was one of the best performing Swiss film at the national box office. It was the first Swiss film ever to be invited to the competition of the International Tokyo Film Festival.
In 1998 Aeby became a member of the Directors Guild of America.
Since 2000 he divides his time between Spain and Bern, working as a screenwriter and director.
In October/November 2004 Simon Aeby directed the English language film HEADSMAN, starring Steven Berkoff, Eddie Marsan, Peter McDonald, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Anastasia Griffith.
In August 05 HEADSMAN will participate in the competition of the Intl. World Film festival in Montreal.
