VIOLANTA

by Daniel Schmid

Violanta is the story of a woman who is overtaken by her own past. The story covers two days, and the vehicle for the action is a wedding celebration. There are also two other levels of consciousness portrayed: that of dreams, and that of visions. A number of the characters are already dead at the time of the action. They are not, however, depicted as ghosts. It is an attempt to portray the fact that the truly beautiful exists only as suffered fantasy. The rest is persecution, and no emotion has a greater wealth of variations than achievement.
